Log in and visit My Conference Submissions
Log in to the site with your AIS username and password. Once logged in, click on the 'My Conference Submissions' link on the left side to submit your proposal. Pre-arranged panels will be the norm for this conference.
To organize a panel, there is a two-step submission process. First, the panel organizer must create and submit the panel proposal and their own individual paper proposal. Second, the panel organizer must invite the remaining panelists (two or three others) to submit their individual paper proposals for inclusion in the panel.
In Step 1, the panel organizer must complete the online panel registration form, which includes submitting a panel abstract (limited to 300 words). This abstract should outline the central theme of the panel and explain how each individual paper contributes to that theme, listed in the order they are to appear. To ensure a blind peer-review process, please do not include the names or bios of any participants in the abstract. Alongside the panel abstract, the organizer must also submit a separate personal bio (no more than 150 words), and their own individual paper proposal. This paper proposal should include a paper abstract (maximum 300 words) outlining the core scholarly theme, main argument, relevant sources, and literature, as well as a separate personal bio. Again, names and bios must not appear in the paper abstract.
In Step 2, the panel organizer should contact the other panelists and share the panel title with them. Each presenter must log into their own AIS “My Conference Submissions” page, submit their individual paper proposal, and select the appropriate panel title from the drop-down menu. Each presenter must submit a separate paper abstract (maximum 300 words) and a short bio (maximum 150 words). No names or bios should appear in the abstracts.
Panels are limited to one (1) chair, one (1) discussant, and up to four (4) presenters. While four-paper panels are preferred, panels with three papers will also be considered. In such cases, the Conference organizers may suggest a fourth presenter whose independent paper aligns with the panel theme. Pre-arranged panels will be the standard format for this conference, and individual paper proposals are discouraged. Anyone wishing to propose an individual paper must first contact the Programme Committee chairs.
The Conference organizers reserve the right to edit bios and abstracts of approved presentations for clarity and consistency before they are included in the official Conference Program.
- IMPORTANT: Please be advised that, per long standing policy, 2026 AIS Conference participants may only present one paper at the conference. If more than one paper abstract is submitted for consideration, only the first one received will be forwarded to the program committee for consideration. There are other ways to participate in multiple panels--as chair, discussant, or as an attentive member of the audience (much appreciated by presenters).

Wait for the results of the adjudication
After you submit your proposal, you can check the status of your submission by visiting your Conference Submissions page. When your proposal is reviewed, you will receive an email with the results
Deadlines
Submission opens on July 1st, 2025, and will continue until September 21th, 2025.
Adjudication
Panels will undergo a peer-review process by a Programme Committee of scholars led by co-chairs, Professor Dominic Parviz Brookshaw (Oxford) and Professor Asghar Seyed-Gohrab (Utrecht). The names and academic affiliations of the other members of the Programme Committee will be published on the AIS website after the closing of the submissions process. All applicants will be notified of the status of their proposal in December 2025, so that the approved candidates will have sufficient time to arrange funding through their institutions, and to apply (if necessary) for a Netherlands visa. It should be noted that online presentations will not be possible.
