I am Senior Research Fellow at the International Institute of Social History and Emeritus Professor of Social History of the Middle East and Central Asia at Leiden University.

Scholarly Interests

My scholarly interests encompass Social history, labour history in the Middle East, and the former Soviet South. Historiography and historiography of modernity and the left movement are also lies in my field of interests.
