Reynier Valdés Piñeiro

Reynier Valdés Piñeiro
Born in La Habana, 1984

Reynier Valdés Piñeiro is a doctoral candidate in History and Critical Theory of Art at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. His research focuses on contemporary Middle Eastern female photographers who challenge Orientalist perspectives. He holds a Master's degree in Asian and African Studies from El Colegio de México and a Bachelor's degree in Art History from the University of La Habana.

Throughout his career, Reynier has served as a professor of Art History and cultural topics at academic institutions such as the University of La Habana and Anahuac University in Mexico. He has also delivered lectures at prestigious institutions including the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and El Colegio de México. His research interests encompass areas such as Orientalist viewpoints, the relationship between art and Islam, and contemporary Middle Eastern art.

Currently, he works as a researcher at the National Museum of World Cultures in Mexico City.
