Monir Sadat Madar Shahi

Academic Profile

Monir S. Madarshahi received her PhD in Political Science in 2005 from Tehran University, Iran. Her work was mostly concentrated in the field of Religious Democracy where she characterized and analyzed the contemporary Iranian political thoughts with respect to Islam and democracy. Her latest articles include “Religious Government Must be Democratic: Islamic Republic of Iran Ruling Theory” published in the proceedings of the Second World Congress for Middle Eastern Studies (WOCMES-2) in June of 2006, as well as her 2012 article in the Journal of Iranian Studies “Iran’s Twenty- Year Vision Document: An Outlook on Science and Technology”. She has been a faculty member for the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology since 1997 and has worked at the office of International Scientific Cooperation, Secretariat of the Iran’s Supreme Council of Science and was the deputy to the United Nation transfer of Knowledge Program (UNDAF). She has spent the last four years in universities such as Jawaherlal Nehru, India as well as McGill and Université de Montréal in Canada as a visiting scholar.
