Academic Profile
Emily Blout is currently a Ph.D. student at University of St. Andrews. Her dissertation examines mass communications in modern Iran.
Before beginning her degree, she worked at the National Defense University in Washington D.C., where she conducted research on WMD counter proliferation and counter terrorism policymaking and policy coordination in the National Security Council.
Blout previously served as spokesperson for a senior member of Congress. Prior to her time on Capitol Hill, Blout served as Legislative Director for an organization representing Americans of Iranian decent.
Blout received a Master of Arts in Strategic Security Studies from the National Defense University in June 2012. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Political Science from Union College in New York.
