Academic Profile
I am a PhD student at the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations, University of Toronto, working on early Mughal history, with a focus on the development of the Mughal bureaucracy. My main concern is the nature and scope of Mughal rule and the intermediaries that facilitated an early-modern empire in India. Part of my focus is to look at the oeuvre of Abu'l-Fazl Allami.
My research in Mughal history also includes political thought, sufi movements, agromanagement, court historiography, masculinity, and the participation of eunuchs in Mughal political life. I completed my Masters at the Institute of Islamic Studies, McGill University, working on early Mughal historiography and the life of the eunuch-amir Shah Quli Khan Mahram.
