Academic Profile
Khatereh Sheibani is a scholar, author and curator of Iranian Cinema and Persian literature and culture at York University, Canada. She studied at Shiraz University and the University of Tehran, Iran before coming to Canada in 1998. Khatereh completed her doctorate degree in comparative literature at the University of Alberta, Canada in 2007. Her first book on the poetics of post-revolutionary Iranian cinema was released in 2011 by I.B.Tauris .She has written several articles on modern Persian literature and the relations between Middle Eastern cinemas, poetry, and the conventions of visual arts in anthologies and journals such as Iranian Studies and Canadian Journal of Film Studies. Khatereh has finished her first novel, "Hotel Iran" and has published a number of poems in Persian. She has taught courses on Middle Eastern cinemas, postcolonial literatures, media studies, and documentary film and television.
