Academic Profile
Azam Khatam is Research Affiliate at the City Institute and lecturer at York University. Her research focuses on modernity, modernization and production of space, urban governance, land and social housing, and urbanism in Iran and the Middle East. She is the author of Decentralization and Ambiguities of Local Politics in Tehran (co-authored by Keshavarzian 2016), Publics and Politics in Tehran (in Urbanism and the Arab Uprisings, UR Terreform 2016) and La rénovation urbaine en Iran. En Le Téhéran des quartiers popularizes (Karthala 2013).
