Academic Bio: 
Fereshteh Amanat-Kowsar is a Senior Lector in Persian language and literature in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations of Yale University. Her course offerings range from Elementary to Advanced Persian as well as advanced seminars. She is currently teaching seminars entitled "Identity and Change" and "A Thematic Survey of Modern Persian Literature." She is also the author of several books, among which “*Bidad-e Sokoot*”, for which she received the Isfahan Literary Award in 2005; "*We, Children of the Alley: Sketches of Life in the '50s and '60s.*" Her latest book, forthcoming from Roshangaran publishers, is a memoir of her childhood, entitled “*Chehel Matal.*”
