I am a cultural and social historian of early modern and modern Iran, the Persian Gulf and Palestine with specific interests in schools, literati, merchants and sea peoples.

My research interests focus is 1. on schools, educators, and education including missionary schools, 2 on artists, writers and roles in society and cultures, 3. on merchants, peasants, and peoples of Iran's Persian Gulf littoral and the ports.
