Ladan Hamedani

Academic Profile

Dr. Ladan Hamedani has been the Roshan Institute Instructor in Persian Language and Culture since 2013 coordinating the Persian Language, Linguistics, and Culture Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She received her PhD in Linguistics from University of Ottawa, Canada in 2011. Her dissertation is on syntax, Persian syntax in particular. She received her first MA degree in education from Azad University, Tehran, Iran in 1997 with specialization in ‘Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)’ and testing in particular and her second MA Degree in Linguistics from University of Ottawa, Canada in 2003. She was a Persian lecturer at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, from 2007 to 2009. She was a member of the faculty at Islamic Azad University, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Tehran, Iran, from 1998 to 2002. Her research interests include Persian syntax, testing, translation, and culture as well as pedagogy and second language acquisition.
